The fact that on some occasions, electors do not vote as pledged, is enough to make any voting citizen’s blood boil. You can thank the Electoral College.

Only 29 states plus the District of Columbia have laws regulating how their electors vote, while the rest are free to vote in whatever manner they want with NO legal repercussions.

As if that isn’t angering enough, most states with legal control over electors only punish those who break their oath and go against the popular vote with a misdemeanor or a small fine, usually of $1,000.

That’s right, folks! You can get a $400 ticket in some states for texting while driving, while corrupt electors can only face a $1,000 fine for illegally deciding one of the most important decisions our country has to face.

There have been more than 700 proposals introduced in Congress to reform or eliminate the Electoral College. Where are the results?

I believe it is time for change. It is time for all electors to be bound by the people’s vote. And it is certainly time for the punishment for those who break this law to face real consequences. – Treason, perhaps?
